BIOGRAPHY  

Nathalie Ebead manages and provides strategic direction to the Democracy Assessment, Analysis and Advisory (DAAA) Unit. Ebead works to build International IDEA’s capacity to strengthen democratic institutions and processes through analysis, assessment, and advice on democratic trends and issues. This involves mainstreaming gender, diversity, and conflict and security into International IDEA’s programmatic activities.

Ebead manages International IDEA’s signature publication project.

Ebead previously served as the Deputy Head of Democratization and Head of the Migration Unit at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR). She was responsible for promoting international human rights and governance standards. Ebead also worked for the UNHCR from 2006 to 2008 in Ethiopia and Azerbaijan on protection issues for refugees and internally displaced persons. She served as Deputy Director of Democratization Department from 2008-2011 of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and worked for the OSCE Presence in Albania from 2003-2006 on democratic governance, elections, rule of law, and human rights issues.

PhD in International and Constitutional Law (Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck, Austria), Master in International Relations (Diplomatic Academy Vienna, Austria).
